Welcome to this gallery, where we invite you to embark on a journey that explores the intersection of art and artificial intelligence. Here at 'Image Life,' we eschew complex prompt engineering, opting instead to encourage the neural networks towards 'free association,' a term borrowed from psychiatry. What happens if we ask the neural networks to imagine ‘loneliness’, ‘forgiveness’, ‘tenderness’ ‘loss’, or ‘joy’? Do they grasp the essence of these fundamental human emotions? Our meticulous curation process aims to showcase this exploration as artfully as possible, presenting a visual dialogue between AI interpretation and the depth of human feeling. In a digital age, young people's search for identity is a labyrinth where self-expression clashes with societal expectations. The statement "I don't know who I am" echoes not as a whisper but as a chorus, resonating through the chambers of modern existence, The neural net’s reflection reveals a raw canvas where nudity isn't shame but a question, "Is this me?" Gender discussions add layers, challenging young minds to reconcile their physical form with internal truths amidst pervasive gender norms. The study captures their struggle: to define oneself in an era where gender identity and self-perception are public and scrutinized, a defiant quest to uncover the "Who am I?" beneath the surface in a world that constantly redraws the lines. The human condition and the human form

explored through the lens of Artificial Intelligence.

The artist behind this project was introduced to the remarkable capabilities of neural networks in May 2023 and was immediately mesmerized by their potential. Harnessing the power of these advanced AI systems, he embarked on a creative exploration, generating a plethora of images between May 15 and today. In doing so, on numerous occasions, the method of 'free association' was chosen, providing the neural nets with as little words as possible, e.g. prompting just the single words such as loneliness', 'joy' or 'desire'.

The primary objective of this project was twofold, with the artist approaching it as both a study of AI's current understanding of the human condition and as an artistic endeavor. By delving into fundamental aspects of life, such as the above mentioned, but also 'liveliness', 'loss', 'identity', sexuality', 'forgiveness' and so on, the artist sought to understand what the neural networks are capable of imagining when tasked with envisioning these profound themes.

Throughout the creation process, a delicate balance was maintained between the artistic expression and the examination of AI's comprehension of human emotions, feelings, and desires. At times, the scale tilted more towards one of these angles, allowing the artist to explore different perspectives and insights provided by the neural networks.

In selecting which images would become part of this exhibition, the artist undertook a discerning process in which careful consideration of both the study of AI's current understanding and the artistic value of each piece was paramount. Consequently, only a few images were chosen from the multitude that were created, each offering a unique perspective on the human condition as interpreted by the neural networks.

Furthermore, the artist deliberately chose to leave certain errors produced by the neural networks intact within the published images. This deliberate decision serves a twofold purpose: firstly, to estrange the viewer and emphasize that these are not conventional photographs but rather artistic renderings generated by AI; and secondly, to challenge the viewer's conventional perceptions of human form. By showcasing the occasional imperfections, such as in the image "_erotic_longing_of_a_woman_68dbdd95-23," the artist prompts the viewer to reevaluate their notions of aesthetics and invites them to engage with the deeper emotions and meanings conveyed by these compositions.
